Why does it seem so typical that the day I'm wearing my interview clothes is the day I wind up at Fred Meyer's lugging around big bags of cow poop?

That aside, I guess the interview went fine. The person with the most hiring authority was pretty unreadable, but Rachel said that's just her manner. One guy, who said he was interviewing for cultural match, actually said I fit right in, which gave me some cause for hope. Oh, and he said he was turned down by Onvia at the same time I was accepted there. What's funny is that I think he got the job at G. at the same time.

Surreally enough, everyone who interviewed me was dressed in a costume from M.A.S.H. I said to one guy that I wish I could have come in costume, too ... but then I laughed and said that in fact I was in costume, dressed as a job candidate.

The sun is shining delightfully today, even though it's right cold outside - 45°. Unfortunately, Worthy Opponent has the car today so I can't make it to the hardware store to get any mulch. I don't suppose that can keep me from getting a lot accomplished in at least part of my garden. Well, except I really need some bone meal. I wish I had a friend who could run me down to Eagle. It makes me wish we had a second car, only I can't imagine spending $XOOO just so I could go on the five or six errands I want to do annually. Of course (gasp) I could get off my butt and ride the bike there ... but that won't do jack to help me with the mulch problem, since I couldn't possibly carry that back in my bike baskets. *sigh* Do I really only have three friends in town?

The sun setting last night was simply STUNNING. The southern sky was this band of pumpkin orange, and the west was russet red. In fact, the colors coordinated nicely with the maple tree in the back yard. The whole thing was like a big Ode to Fall. Fortunately the rain last night didn't knock all of the leaves off of the trees, but with last night's frost (the first!) the signs are clear that it is time to get the bulbs in the ground ...

I got a call tonight from Mary, my former best friend ™ who lives in Arizona. It was really great to talk to her, not to mention a total shock since we hadn't spoken in, what, five years? I'm pretty happy that she called. We had a lot to talk about, but I was supposed to go with The Boy to the Comet in time for him to make the bike shop, so after half an hour we were pretty good and I took off. Yay! It would be nice to have a best friend again, if it's possible. Now I wonder if I'll ever hear from Ann again?

The afternoon got pretty busy after the extended shoe viewing escapade ...

I've got my interview coming at Getty this Thursday morning! Yippee! I'm damn sure HR has cut Hall Kinion out of the loop, though.

I've spent 2 hours online today looking for boots. It sounds stupid but it's raining outside and my current boots have a hole in the toe. Damn cheap Easy Spirits! I found several possibilities but I don't feel like spending a hundred dollars, and of course the pair I found for $32 are sold out in my size.

Ah, neighborhood politics. One of the reactionaries on the mailing list sent the link below out with the commentary "Know your enemies!"

"Here is a pastor of a white fundamentalist christian church. The religious right, Bush supporters, Ronnies People ...and you tell me there is no racism in US. "

It's been a busy morning ... I got a call from Lisa about the Fremont job at 9:30, then after I got my work list organized for the meeting tonight, I got calls from Celine and my neighbor Kevin, one an invite to lunch, the other an invite to tea. So I went to Kevin's for tea and Celine and I will be going to lunch at Koraku. I need to get all prettied up and head out now.

The day was very relaxed after its slow start. I took the dogs out after breakfast, while The Boy worked on peeling the green stuff off of the bathroom walls. We actulaly got it together and went to the Contrafacta concert at Queen Anne Christian Church. I don't know if it was just my worn-out mood, but the concert seemed really long. I was especially finding listening to Sally sing grating my nerves. If they'd only stuck with having professionals sing! And I was reminded during the show that I haven't really done anything in the publicity area for about two weeks, and apparently I was supposed to have some stuff done for the meeting tomorrow. I'd better get on it. In fact, that's part of the reason why I'm here now instead of at the Seawolf: I want to get up at a decent time tomorrow.

After the show, we hit Trader Joe's (just around the corner!) and then came home. I whipped up some Spaghetti Carbonara (it was quite inspired tonight, I'm not sure if it was the pancetta, the low-sodium bacon, or the whipping cream, but YUM!), then we dashed off to The Nina's for cards. We played Michigan Rummy (still not sure if the game is any fun), Euchre (Nina and Worthy Opponent came back from a three point deficit - 9 to 6 - to WIN), and some really fun strategy game that reminded me of a cross between Roborally (tile placement) and Age of Empires (building cities and farms). I definitely would like to play it again.

Oops. It looks like for the first time since I started writing this I missed a day. I'll recap yesterday for posterity's sake. Right now I want to get out of the house and go to Linda's for breakfast so I want to be quick.

We spent most of yesterday driving hither and yon around Seattle, looking for the perfect base garment for my Can Can costume. While we picked up accessories for both of us, we wound up going in desperation to Fantasy Unlimited, since every "normal" store was sold out of Merry Widows (or didn't even stock them anymore). It all wound up being really expensive by the end of the day.

We wound up having pizza for dinner at 8:30 (The Boy was nearly dead), catching the 9:50 instead of the 7 PM Spirited Away (it was awesome the second time around ... I really appreciated the lyrical moments), and then going to a party at 1 friggin AM ... by which time most of the guests were gone, or passed out, at the two we hit. I did get to see what amounted to a live porn flick over at the "Gay party" on 18th street, which was actually doing quite well at 1:30 despite the extreme inebriation of the guests.

Alright, off to breakfast.

I finally got a call about the Getty job ... from Getty! I definitely suspect fireworks between Lisa and the Getty recruiter. I just hope I don't get caught in the crossfire ...

Tonight we're supposed to go to Nikko to celebrate my brother's roommate's birthday. I am unhappy that he's chosen such an expensive restaurant. What's really sad is that I'm sorry for HIM because he said he'd pay for half of that ... and what's sadder is that it's STILL crazy expensive!

Ooh, lookie, my bulbs just showed up from Van Engelen! I guess I know what I'm doing this weekend (other than retiling the bathroom, seeing a concert of Spanish Renaissance music, and going to Halloween parties).

Too bad we're supposed to go to Nikko's tomorrow: I'd rather go here.

I had the most awesome night last night. We went to happy hour Tapas with Sleen (hello little Mojito!), ran home to walk the dogs, then went to Victrola for Mah Jong where we were visited by not one, but two of our friends (Irene and Adam). I was already being accused of being giddy (was it the Chocolate Raspberry Stack?) before we left, but there is no doubt I was off the map some time after we got to the Seawolf. Was it the compliments? The margarita Grover bought me? My outstanding rendition of "Summertime?" I don't know, but it's going to rank as one of my best nights out ever.

I guess there's little surprise, then, that it's a quarter 'til twelve, I haven't eaten breakfast yet, and Worthy O took the car to work (can't blame him, since we got home after 1 AM). Cocoa Pebbles are sounding good right now ... am I ever going to hear back about the Getty job? I'm getting nervous, since it looks like the recruiter I've been working with and the Getty internal recruiter might be fighting over whether or not a fee is going to be paid to use me ... which could leave ME stuck without work, still.

Unfortunately I've spent so much time on the phone this AM that I haven't got anywhere near getting my stories written. So I'll hop in the shower and then get RIGHT BACK ONLINE.

Now here's a happy hour deal I could get into:

It's nice to know I'm not the only unemployed fuckoff out there. As a matter of fact, these New Yorkers make me look like a rank amateur. Unemployment check as pocket change, indeed!

I loved this:

Some laid-off Wall Streeters have even adopted a name for themselves: the 405 Club, a reference to an evening last year when a group of unemployed investment bankers jestingly tried to pay an $800 dinner bill at Craft, in the Flatiron district, by signing over their $405 unemployment checks - the maximum benefit offered by the Labor Department.

And this, which I simply must save for posterity:

Dominic at bowling last night asked what the secret was of our long-lasting relationship. I was able to remember one of the things I came up with last summer when I had a similar conversation with W.O.'s grandparents: compromise. And I know there was another word that started with C that was just as important. What was it? Conversation? Communication?

I remembered after we got home last night (around 1 AM, when I was writing my letter to Nickels): commitment, as in a commitment to the relationship and making it work. It seems obvious but I know that it's important. Compromise alone isn't enough if you don't want to make things work in the first place. Commitment is the motivation for compromise -- that and the fact that you like each other and don't want to say, "I'm taking my toys and going away because I don't want to play with you any more."

I'm at home this morning, getting some things taken care of before I go to Worthy Opponent's office to try to make a go at doing some ASP programming. I've made a doctor's appointment, I'm planning on jumping in the shower soon, there's poop patrol to attend to, and I'd like to finish off my letter to Nickels. I figure I'll stay here until I've eaten lunch and then go. It would be good for me to study some Japanese, too. I just couldn't get motivated to do it last night ... which kind of summarized my lack of enthusiasm to do anything last night. I'd like to make a good dinner at home tonight, though, somehow in the tiny amount of time we'll have before class starts.

By the way, I have a theory about the Washington sniper: it's the same person that sent out the anthrax letters, only now they've turned their attention to the need to get gun control laws enacted.

Man, now that's one cute kitty. Just think, if her picture doesn't show up anymore, that may mean she's found a new home!

We're sitting around reading the newspaper thinking about what to do today. I was going to go see the Tudor Choir peform today, but I'm feeling cheap and lazy. So that leaves 1) going to the West Seattle farmer's market to get some green chiles for dinner tonight, 2) hanging out at the Panama tea room and playing Michigan rummy, and/or 3) getting all of the materials to do our bathroom renovation.

My current thinking is that our living room carpet is going to have to come out (maybe I'm just trying to find room for the monkey rug, I don't konw). Maurie yesterday was saying that maybe when they get a house we can go in together on renting a sander. Our response was that by the time they buy a house we'll about be ready to get a sander -- you know, in a year's time.

The P.I has endorsed the Monorail. Can you believe it? I was just thinking that they could distinguish themselves from the Times if they actually took some different editorial stances once in a while ... say, making themselves the true "lefty paper" of our lefty city. And they did! I doubt they'll extend their streak beyond this one time, though.

According to an article in the New York Times, people used to have entire rooms decorated in a monkey theme (called "singeries") during the 17th century. I find this a very amusing concept ... how could it not make you laugh?

OK, I like the idea of doing puppies and kitties week. Next week I'm going to do Bad Art, not that Puppies and Kitties aren't bad art.

SO ... last night we went to Mandarin Gate to meet up with Celinie and (as it turned out) Allen. The Boy and I were about ready to leave, but I had one more song to do. So there I was, on stage in my fabulous polyester karaoke dress with the rhinestone encrusted slit up to my underwear line, performing "Barracuda," and I hear a loud noise and notice a piece of glass heading toward the stage in what seemed to me to be slow motion. I decided against finishing the song (only two words left anyway) and got off stage to have a lookie loo at the brawl that seemed to be developing in the back corner of the bar. Apparently the bitchy Asian/Somali (I couldn't tell) girl that had been prancing around in way too high heels (looking like one of those particularly slutty chicks I keep seeing in the International District) took offense at this Somali dude sitting at the end of the bar and smashed him in the head with a BEER bottle, for Christ's sake. She and her buddies hightailed it out of the bar, and this guy, whose head was bleeding, got arrested for, I don't know, being upset about the whole thing. It seemed grossly unfair.

Today I'm at the Boy's office, trying to, um, quit screwing around online and actually get to work on the ASP stuff I'm supposed to be doing to help Molly. But I seem to have had an awful lot of other things to do before I started ... make a crumpet, walk the dog, get a log in, etc. Of course we didn't get here until after 11 thanks to this meeting The Boy had this A.M., so the lack of progress isn't completely pathetic. I hope the sun doesn't come out today so I can hang out here and not feel like I'm missing anything by actually doing the work I wanted to do.

It's not kitten week yet, but how's that for a good kitten photo? And is it NOT unfailing that a search on "persian kitty" gets me "one of the web's most popular porn sites!" I'm not going to hot link that so those who read my blog at work don't get in trouble by clicking on it before they thought better about it. (And puppy pictures don't cut it because my puppy woke me up in the middle of the night when he snuck downstairs and got into the $14 a pound parmesan cheese we'd left on the dining room table. Fortunately it was so hard he couldn't make too much of a dent in it in the five minutes or so he had to be chewing.)

I'm going to Worthy Opponent's work today to talk about doing an apprenticeship project (to finally learn some ASP), then I'm going to meet Irene for lunch (ayay!). I'm going to Fremont on my bike ... should be fun! Tonight the big plan is Karaoke at Mandarin Gate. Anyone want to join me? I need to practice my Bee Gees before I go over, though. Why is it so hard to find Bee Gees in Real Audio format?

The latest reports on unemployment are very disturbing, not to mention the fact that a friend of mine was offered a job at a salary I would consider at least ten thousand off of what the actual salary should be. I am trying not to think about PMSI.

Today's the day my musician visitor shows up. Fortunately they don't appear until after six, so I've got plenty of time to ... take a walk to Broadway! Why not, the dogs never got a walk yesterday and this makes the third incredibly sunny day that I have utterly failed to take advantage of. If only this GD cold would go away ... I keep waking up coughing in the middle of the night, and in the morning I feel like crapola.

Yesterday's highlight was going out for lunch with Worthy Opponent (Agua Verde Paddle Club), then of course waiting for him to come home (actually between going to Honda and Safeway there wasn't much waiting, plus there was my nap and finishing my book to occupy me), then going to the Comet and playing Chez Geek (I beat him twice, it was natural superiority I'm certain). However, the pint on my empty stomach made me a cheap date, and I found the hallowed halls of Uwajimaya a veritable labrinth, especially since there was a 10% off everything sale going on ... what incredible delights had I previously avoided purchasing because of their great expense? I made it out with some fresh Udon noodles, a shaker of some killer seasoning we had at Hana Monday night, and some extremely un-Japanese raspberry filled wafer cookies. Of course, after we had dinner (Curry Udon), we wound up cleaning the damn carpet at 10:30 at night. That's what we get for being Capitol Hill hipsters instead of having brains in our heads. But the carpet smells so much better now!

I didn't mention what I thought of Minority Report, I think. It was weird to sit and watch it, even for $3 at the Crest. I was reluctant to go, although I couldn't really put a finger on why. But half an hour into the movie, I realized I didn't really care about what was going on ... I was completely unengaged, like I was when I watched Forrest Gump oh so long ago. Dick's work is so dark, and good old Spielberg worked so hard to alleviate the darkness that it was almost campy in spots. I think he should have just let it be black, like 1984 is. The movie, with its emphasis on government surveillance and the "need" to be constantly aware of the identitiy and location of every citizen, was so relevant to some of the weird anti-civil liberties crap that the government is up to now, should have served as a wake up call to the audience about what kind of country we're on the verge of living in, what with "national identity cards," "retinal scans," and "passenger profiling" becoming so popular. The movie also seemed like an ego trip for Tom Cruise ... the master of technology! The beloved leader! The devoted father! I would have liked to see a lot more of him doing nasty addictive drugs - was that in the original story? Was the "missing son" theme? I wonder ...

Meanwhile, Nemesis by Louise Cooper gave me nightmares Sunday night, and kept me up reading until well past midnight last night. That's what I call storytelling!

The pinball tournament at Shorty's today was fun, although of course I'd still be there now if I'd been doing really well. I did meet my personal goal, which was to win two games, although unfortunately the person I won my second game against was drunk, and since we were playing a "loser's round" it wasn't very gratifying anyway. I won my first game, Dr. Who, in two rounds; lost my second, Scared Stiff (the Elvira game) on a very hard fought third game against "Royal"; won Dr. Who (again) on the second game against Nikki, the drunk girl (and a friend of Royal); then lost my fourth game, Attack From Mars, on the second game, although it was close until he got a multiball on the third ball. Alas. In between rounds I read Nemesis (by Louise Cooper) and snacked on the food I got from the quickie mart (and did not drink beer, like Nikki, to my game's advantage). I guess I should be proud of myself for making it to the fourth round, but it's only because you had to lose twice to get kicked out, so two wins to start would have been much more gratifying.

Now I want to go to Karaoke at the Sea Wolf. I should take the dogs for a walk, but I'm irritated at Shadow for sneaking by me to get into the cat box while I was out with him and Lily (I thought the front door was closed but apparently it wasn't) and not taking them out will allow me to get a slice of pizza. Yum!

I was cruising through a Blog site, checking out random folks blogs, and I was just appalled. Christ, don't these folks do anything? "My T1 has been down all days." Take a walk in the sweet sunshine, ya loser!

Which is what Worthy O and I did today after our three hour marathon Squire Park neighborhood council meeting. We grabbed some Subs from the U-district (and apples from the farmers' market) and hightailed it to the Mount Baker-Snoqualmie "Mountain Loop Highway" and did us a stroll up the Monte Cristo road (with the dogs of course), although not all the way to the abandoned mine. Unfortunately since I am still sick the relatively easy walk left me worn out, and that (plus the cost) talked us out of the BOMB show tonight. I'm sorry not to go ... but I blame unemployment for not coming through this week. So we're just going to watch some cheesy anime movie from Scarecrow tonight ... and something about some Australians with "penis puppets," which should be hysterical (I think they were on Leno this week).

Today's chicken is: the Dominique!

All I've got going on today is a 3 PM at PMSI to finish up interviewing with the one person that couldn't make it yesterday. It's a nice day out, I wish there was something I felt like doing other than taking a shower, but unfortunately I'm still sick. I woke up this AM feeling very hung over, and I thought, "Man, I've got to stop going out late and drinking!" But then I remembered that I only had orange juice last night, and in fact I am just sick and congested as all get out.

I was planning my flower garden, and I went to the Van Engelen website and discovered a tulip I wanted to order, New Design, was sold out. So I did a search on "New Design Tulip." And what came up? Once more, something totally sick (or totally non-tulip related). Ah, the joys of the web!

I'm not sure what to do tonight. I'm guessing a trip to see Minority Report at the Crest might be in order, or maybe to Graceland to see Ants Invasion, or maybe both. I want to see the opening concert of the Benevolent Order for Music of the Baroque, but I'm feeling a little financially touchy after my big burn by the unemployment people yesterday, which is, I think why Scapin is not going to happen at all.

Holy Christ on a triscuit, Batman, I didn't know my unemployment benefits were going to get quartered this week. That sucks! The one day of work just barely got me into the solvency zone, and here I was looking for it to help pay for the friggin Detroit tickets. Fie.

The interview at PMSI seemed to go fine, not stunningly well. I got asked questions about three-tiered architecture, networking, different operating systems, etc. It always sucks to get some hard core gear head developer dude asking me this stuff because I'm a complete ignoramus next to him. Maybe someday we'll be at the same level. I was completely in the dark about what they thought about me, though. I hope I did well on the "find the bug" test. I filled up the page, and that had to count for something.

Like a dope I forgot my phone book (which never happens), so I couldn't call Celine to go to lunch today. I spent my charming half hour at Salumi by myself, well, elbow to elbow with complete strangers, but it was like eating by myself.

Today's chicken is: the Golden Seabright!

I had a right fun lunch with Missy Celine today. She was out of jury selection for the afternoon, and we went to Top Gun for Dim Sum. YU-U-U-UM! (Except for the egg roll ... just what part of the pig WAS that?)

Scavenged some more things from Keith's house today. Now I have Careers, Parcheesi, Password, and some weird circular wooden board with stones in it. I think it's Michigan Parcheesi. I'm also a proud owner of a second "The New Newlywed Game." Now when I ditch the first one it won't feel lonely.

Today's big plan is ... to write the EMG "E-Newsletter." Between that, taking a shower, and doing more dishes, I'm just overwhelmed with the excitement! I'm hoping to hit Karaoke at the Sea Wolf tonight. I'm not due at PMSI until 10 tomorrow so I should have plenty of time to recover.

Today's chicken is: the Silver Spangled Hamburg!

I was awakened today by a call from PMSI ... at long last! What does it take? Apparently a hand-written card and a hard copy of my resume. Fine, I'm flexible!

I couldn't fall asleep last night until 2 AM ... first thanks to, I don't know what, it felt like caffeine, and then I had a half hour of coughing before my nasal cavity solidified and I was able to drift off. It's weird to get up after being in bed for an hour and read, but it seemed better than just laying there with my eyes closed.

I'VE GOT AN INTERVIEW AT PMSI! Yippee!

On another note:

Sometimes I wonder what I do all day long. Sometime Worthy Opponent wonders what I do all day long. Well, the last two days, I've been writing. Here's my Musem of Glass review to prove it. Get it before it hits the presses!

I was dreaming about my friend Ann Donovan again last night. I actually dropped by her house with the card I had sent to her Friday. I did actually get the address wrong, including the zip code. I wonder if she read it this weekend? In my dream she read it in front of me.

I'm so glad the Supreme Court is staying out of the New Jersey election. It all makes me pretty miserable, this partisan fighting. And the anti-war protest seems to be a non-issue nationally. Oddly enough, polls show the government is spending too much time focusing on attacking Iraq and not enough on domestic issues. Is there a reason for that?

I spent the first hour or so that I was in bed hacking away, which Worthy O slept through like a champion. I'm sure I have his cold now. I was also doing a mayonnaise wrap on my hair, which meant I smelled like a grilled cheese sandwich. Yuck!

Chickens I would consider buying:

Silver Spangled Hamburg
Featherleg Cochin
Feather leg bearded silkie
Silver Phoenix
Black Auracana
Belgian Bearded D'Uccle
Sumatra

The party at Cort's last night was fun. Celinie was there with her new hair do, as was Tom, Danny, and Nina, and we brought Rafael. The super skinny dude from the last party was there again. During our game of Encore (the song game) he acted like some cross between Felix Unger and the Grinch. Topic: songs about wild animals. Us: "Everybody's got something to hide except for me and my monkey." Them: "Accompanied by a monkey sitting on a stool, who'd watch every move .." Him (on their team): "God, enough with the monkey songs!" Me: "Hey, hey, we're the Monkees, people say we like to monkey around ..." Him: (stares at the ceiling in frustration) Them: "Get this monkey off my back, off my back ..." It was a hella good time, only we need to remember to start on the third row so we don't get song fatigue.

Today we slept quite late, had some pancakes, then stopped by Keith's estate sale (and bought nothing, it was all too expensive). We hit two more sales, then went to the Asian Art Museum to see the other half of the Doh Ho Suh show. There was a big-assed anti-war protest taking place at the same time. We left at 3:30 and went to Issaquah for Salmon Days. No big deal, really, it was mostly craft booths and W.O. decided against buying the salmon bake. Now we're both slightly sick and not feeling like doing much. Thank goodness the Simpsons will be on soon.

Got in 8 hours testing a medical education product out in Bothell today. It was nice to use my head for a day, although I was pretty spaced out by the time 6 PM rolled around. And it was fun working with Rafael! Apparently W.O. had a good time while I was gone, too ... he hit three garage sales and a plant sale, the lucky dog.

Now we're off to a game night at Cort's. It's just been too long!

Oh the joys of the web. I did a search on "Tulip 'make-up', " a flower I had unsuccessfully attempted to buy earlier today on VanBourgondien. What did I get instead?

tulip butt
... . 'I had to pull out the stamping product and show her that my cheeks looked like
the petals on a tulip and my genitalia would make up the flowers pistol and ...

Of course I had to click through and read it.

Well, something memorable did happen today ... I spent a really long time slogging around copies of Tablet. Yeah, sure, I want people to read my articles (there's three in this issue), but this is definitely the hard way to do it. I got filthy with ink, it was raining, my fingernails were splitting from opening the bundles of papers ...

Tonight we went to the ballet at $16 a ticket. What a deal! But the ballet was not really my style. It was waltzy, schmaltzy, fluffy, and pretty. The music was the kind of drab classical I associate with elevator music even though it's fully orchestrated. Kaori actually stole the show from Arianna ... because her part got the better choreography. Who wouldn't leave their husband for Christophe Maraval (rowr!)? And Batkhurel Bold was dancing tonight, too ... all of my favorites. If only it had been a more interesting performance.

Although the Tablet meeting just happened and the Seawolf has yet to happen, I'm convinced the redeeming feature of this day was the trip to Good Will (Salvation Army, whatever, on Dearborn). I went to get a new sheet to cover the bird cage, but figured ... well, might as well check out the sweaters ... and the skirts ... and while I'm in the linens section, my GOODNESS, is this a nice brocade slipcover just the right size for the tatty green chair near the front door? And I couldn't leave without seeing if just maybe they had a shoji screen for Worthy O (and a hawaiian print suitcase for me). Then I made the crucial error of stopping by the record bin, where I remembered the list of artists I'd written up Sunday night that I want to purchase songs by so that I can practice singing them at home. No point paying retail when I could get them here for only a dollar ...

An hour later I emerged with two albums (Pat Benatar and Donna Summer), eight cassettes, a grey wool skirt, a book by an author I'd been looking for and a friend so it didn't get lonely on the ride home, and the slipcover. As for the sheet ... I appear to have left it next to the album bin. Schmuck.

I've got to say the music selection was VERY interesting. There was NO Johnny Cash, very little old country at all. Of course there was some Pat Benatar, but I never expected to see EVERY ALBUM MORRISEY ever created! (They were on cassette, though.) And there was rather a lot of 80s stuff there, perfect for any nostalgia buff. I got a cassette by Julie Newmar that has "The Homecoming Queen's Got a Gun" and "Cause I'm a Blonde" on it ... two songs I do not want to see lost to history. (I actually thought a lot about HQGG after Columbine. It was the perfect song to accompany all of those NPR stories ... how come they never played it?)
