So I'm sitting here, innocently (snackily) eating some "mango sauce," and it makes me think ... mmm, Mango Chicken. I bet I could find a really good recipe for that on the web. After all, I did a search on Butter Chicken and found a bunch of good candidates.

But what to my horrified eyes did appear? A thoroughly Indian site with a recipe for ... Coca Cola Chicken. The horror!

The Six Phases of a Project (brought to me via Theo Deacon)

1. Enthusiasm
2. Disillusionment
3. Panic
4. Search for the guilty
5. Punishment of the innocent
6. Praise and honor for the non-participants

We've been adding phases, such as "denial," "passing of the buck," and "whatever."

I came up with this idea of how people who are well-educated liberals tend to like to see art stuff that runs on the risque side. Why? Well, they're pretty much in denial of "why." I thought the idea was interesting and decided to write a little about the "Smuterati." What follows is the draft.

Maybe. I've got some more stuff in the hopper. I still haven't written the stuff I wanted to about what's wrong with urban planning in Detroit and why Pioneer Square is an awesome place to work yet.

Yesterday Worthy Opponent asked me just how much time in a day I actually spend doing work. I said I didn't know, but I decided today to keep track of just how I spend my time at work. Thus this, A Day in the Life of a Tester.

(But it's long so you have to link to it.)

Things are getting a little ugly over here at my contract job. Today we've noticed that the (contract, from India) developers are marking our bugs Not A Bug, even though they're fixing them. They're also fighting harder (in the bug tracking software we use) to have any bug we discover be written up as a change request. This is even true in cases where a "reasonable person" would have seen that the spec as written clearly applied to another area of the product, even though it didn't specify it.

Why is this? Because their evaluation will be done based on the number of bugs found on their product. Also, any work done as part of a change request costs this company more.

Meanwhile, if the number of bugs QA produces goes down, it will look like less people are needed to work on the project. And really, for the last four weeks we've mostly been pretty busy.

I sense a storm a-brewing.

The guys who did the game Burn Rate sold out their first two runs and are taking it to the toy fair. Maybe I should work a little harder on "White Trash" and "Ignorants Abroad ..."

We finally got our gumption up and went to the Wet Spot Thursday. I justified it as doing anthropological research, but that was just my excuse to go check it out. And today, I ignored the beautiful sunshine outside and wrote it up for your reading pleasure.

I started reciting a poem to my friend Stephanie over drinks, and I thought, maybe it's time for me to memorize this ...
